Replacing a Self-Inking Stamp Ink Pad — the Ten-Second Job

One of the strongest features of the self-inking system is that the ink pad is a separate, replaceable part. When impressions fade, the user does not need a new stamp, new ink bottles or any tools — just a fresh replacement pad and ten seconds. This guide walks through the swap on a standard EPRESS body, with notes for distributors on making pads a painless repeat-purchase line.

The Swap, Step by Step

StepAction
1Press the stamp down slightly — just enough to free the pad — and hold it.
2Locate the pad at the top of the body, beside the die rest position.
3Pinch the pad frame edges and slide the old pad straight out.
4Slide the new pad in the same orientation until it seats.
5Release the stamp and make two or three test impressions on scrap paper.

Two handling tips worth passing to end users: hold the pad by its plastic frame, not the ink surface, to keep fingers clean; and make the first test impressions on scrap — a fresh pad lays down a strong first strike.

Use the Pad Made for Your Model

Pads are model-specific: the frame must seat precisely in the body or inking becomes uneven. On our range the pad matches the model — R-0030 takes the R-0030 pad, R-0042 takes the R-0042 pad, and so on across the round and rectangular lines. When customers reorder, the model number is the only information needed. If you are a distributor stocking several self-inking models, we recommend a pad assortment proportional to your body sales — pads are compact, light and have a long shelf life when capped.

When to Replace vs When to Re-Ink

For the standard EPRESS system the answer is simple: replace. A fresh pad costs less than the time spent re-inking, guarantees consistent ink load, and removes the risk of over-inking or using the wrong ink type. Color change is the other trigger — swapping to a different color pad turns one body into a multi-color tool, which many shops use for inspection coding or multi-department seals.

For Distributors: Pads Are the Repeat Business

Bodies are durable goods; pads are the annuity. Every body you sell generates pad demand for years, and pad reorders are low-friction: small, light, cheap to ship, ordered by model number. Include a spare pad with first orders, keep the full pad range in stock, and your customers never have a reason to look elsewhere. Curious how long a pad lasts in real use? Our guide to impression counts gives the honest answer.

FAQ

Ink Pad Replacement: FAQ

How do I know which replacement pad fits my stamp?

Replacement pads are model-specific — the pad frame must match the stamp body. On EPRESS models the pad is sized to the model (R-0030, R-0038 and so on), so ordering pads for your model number guarantees fit. Distributors should always quote the model when reordering pads.

Can I change ink color by swapping the pad?

Yes — that is one of the advantages of the self-inking system. Keep pads in different colors for the same body and swap as needed. Store spare pads capped so they do not dry out.

How often should the pad be replaced?

Replace it when impressions become too light or uneven, or when you want a different color. Pad life depends on artwork and usage — heavy solid logos consume ink faster than line text. There is no fixed schedule; judge by impression quality.

Is pad replacement something end users can do themselves?

Yes — it is a tool-free, ten-second job on our models, and no technical skill is needed. Distributors often include a spare pad with each stamp so the end user never experiences downtime.

Need Replacement Pads?

Order pads by model number — samples in 2 working days, MOQ 100 pcs with volume pricing.
