We manufacture round self-inking stamps in nine diameters, from 12 mm pocket seals to 50 mm statement stamps. The question we hear most from distributors is not “which model” but “which sizes should I stock”. This guide walks through the decision the way we discuss it with our own wholesale customers — by use case, by text volume and by market habit. The full range lives on the round self-inking stamps page.

Every diameter earns its place because it solves a different job. Company seals need room for a full registered name around the ring plus an emblem — that points to 40–45 mm, with 42 mm the classic choice. Logo and loyalty stamps for shops and cafés favor compact 30–38 mm dies that stamp fast on receipts and cards. Official and notary-style seals in many markets expect a larger face — 45–50 mm. And the small 12–25 mm models serve inspection marks, initials and loyalty icons. Define the end user’s job first; the diameter follows.
| Diameter | Model | Typical Job | Text Capacity |
|---|---|---|---|
| 30 mm | R-0030 | Logo stamps, loyalty cards, compact seals | Short name or simple logo |
| 38 mm | R-0038 | Compact company seals, short names | Name ring, moderate length |
| 40 mm | R-0040 | Seals needing one extra line | Name ring + registration line |
| 42 mm | R-0042 | The classic official company seal | Full name ring + centered emblem |
| 45 mm | R-0045 | Long names, dual-language layouts | Generous ring + inner content |
| 50 mm | R-0050 | Detailed artwork, large official seals | Maximum ring + complex inner design |
Full specifications for each: R-0030 30 mm · R-0038 38 mm · R-0040 40 mm · R-0042 42 mm · R-0045 45 mm · R-0050 50 mm.
Overcrowding is the most common artwork mistake. A ring of text needs arc length: as a rule of thumb, each millimeter of diameter adds roughly 3 mm of arc. If the customer’s company name is long, or the layout needs two rings plus a logo, moving up one size usually saves the design. When you send us artwork, we typeset it on the chosen diameter and return a free proof within 24 hours — if the layout breathes better one size up, we say so before you order, not after.
Seal traditions are local. Many European markets treat 40–42 mm as the default company seal; compact-seal markets lean 38 mm; some official-seal traditions expect 45 mm and above. If you are entering a new market, our repeat-order data says the safest first assortment is weighted to 42 mm with 38 and 40 mm alongside — the comparison in 38 vs 40 vs 42 mm breaks down exactly that decision.

Whichever diameters you stock, the engineering is the same: Taiwan CHIMEI ABS shells, press-and-lock self-inking mechanism, 2.3 mm laser-engraved dies, replaceable ink pads sized to each model, and the same seven-stage QC. OEM options — your logo, Pantone shell colors, private-label packaging — apply to every size through our OEM program, so your brand line can span the full range.
For a first order we usually suggest: 42 mm as the anchor, 38 and 40 mm as volume companions, one carton of 30 mm for the loyalty-stamp segment, and replacement ink pads for each model. That is four models at 100 pcs MOQ each — a container-light start that covers the majority of end-user requests. New to the category? The stamp buying guide covers the full sourcing process step by step.

42 mm is the global best-seller for company seals — it fits a full company name ring plus a centered logo. For compact seals and logo stamps, 38 mm and 30 mm follow closely. Distributors usually start with a 38/40/42 mm assortment.
As a working rule: 30 mm fits a short name or simple logo; 38 mm takes a name ring of moderate length; 40 mm adds room for a registration number or tagline; 42 mm carries a full name ring plus centered emblem; 45 and 50 mm handle long names, dual-language layouts and detailed artwork.
